Joy Reid to Lead Keynote Conversation at #BlogHer17 this June in Orlando

BlogHer Original Post

Today I am excited to announce that Joy Reid, host of MSNBC’s AM Joy show, will be joining us at #BlogHer17 for a very important keynote conversation about the impact, influence, and importance of media… especially raising women’s voice in media.

I’m so thrilled to be able to make this announcement now, while there are still two days left to register for the conference at our Earlybird Pricing (prices go up $150 at 12:01AM Wednesday morning)! With Joy joining already-announced blogger, longtime BlogHer community member, and NYT bestselling author Luvvie Ajayi and author and activist Janet Mock on our main stage (and even more great announcements still to come, I SWEAR!) you really really don’t want to miss it :)

But back to why this keynote conversation about the media is so timely and important right now:

The news itself has become newsworthy. The media is under fire, even under duress, and yet getting more support (moral and financial) than it’s seen in a long time… but what’s going to happen in the long run? And what can we, influencers who also make media, do to support a free press yet watchdog the watchdogs? I can’t be the only one who is fascinated to hear what it’s like from the inside of the media outlets feeling the heat and fighting fire with fire.

If you are not familiar with Joy (!), she is a political analyst for MSNBC where she hosts “AM Joy” (weekends 10AM-12PM ET), which brings viewers in-depth interviews with leading newsmakers, perspective on the critical political stories shaping the election season and beyond, plus compelling discussions with America’s preeminent political minds. “AM Joy” has been on fire. Only launched last May, it has already delivered MSNBC their biggest total view audience in that time period ever.

Joy is also the co-author of We Are the Change We Seek: The Speeches of Barack Obama and author of the book Fracture: Barack Obama, the Clintons and the Racial Divide. She was previously managing editor of theGrio.com and is a current columnist for The Daily Beast.

In other words, she has been a bad-ass woman in media for a long time, both online and on air, and I can’t wait to hear what she shares with the BlogHer attendees this June!

Join us in Orlando in just four months. And stay tuned for more announcements. They’re coming!

And come talk about Joy on our Facebook page, see you there.
